WEIRD and wonderful works of art went on display at Weymouth College as part of a show put together by HND classes in fine art, graphics and 3-D design.

Students of animation were briefed to choose one scene from any movie and recreate it in model form, for their scenes and locations project.

The results included Fungus the Bogeyman, crafted by Brendan Murless, and the Nightmare Before Christmas, by Jay Gawronski.

Overseas art students taking part in an exchange programme also exhibited their work.

Laura Metso came up with illustrations for the book Don't Look Now by Daphne du Maurier, and Elena Terho displayed her printmaking project. Both girls are from Finland.

Art and design lecturer Mark Chapman said: "It is an excellent show with consistently good work.

"All the students are now seeking jobs and I would like to wish them the very best of luck in their careers."

Fine art tutor Brendan Sarsfield said: "An external examiner told me these shows represented some of the strongest graduate work they have seen this year."
