STUDENT Alice Hall has been thinking up ideas to help her become this year’s Miss Dorset.

Alice, 17, from Weymouth, is among a group of girls hoping to be crowned Miss Dorset so they can make it through to the Miss England final.

The former All Saints schoolgirl wanted to enter to raise money for the Weymouth Lifeboat.

She said: “I’m really excited about the fundraising part.

“And I’m really glad it’s such a worthy local charity.

“I’ve not really gone into it from a modelling side.”

Alice, from South Road, Wyke Regis, is currently studying for A-levels in English language, English literature and business studies at Weymouth College.

She hopes to carve out a career in marketing and advertising and has carried out work experience at New Look’s new offices in central London She said: “I think Miss England is a really good opportunity and I’ve been thinking how beautiful and clever the girls are.

“It’s not just about being the best looking.

“They do so much fundraising and that’s what I would like to get involved with.”

The current Miss England is Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge, 22, who has gone on to win modelling contracts while keeping her role in the Army.

Contestants for Miss Dorset now have until May 18 to enter the competition after the deadline was extended.

From those entries a group of semi-finalists will be chosen to be interviewed and photographed at Banus nightclub in Weymouth on May 22.

Finalists will then have up until the final to raise as much money from sponsorship as they can for the competition charity Weymouth Lifeboat.

The finalist who raises the most money will be crowned Miss Weymouth Lifeboat.

The winner of an Echo text vote will be crowned Miss Popularity and the judges will decide the new Miss Dorset.

The date of the final at Banus has now changed and organisers say it will now be on July 2.

The winner of Miss Dorset will win a gown from Bridal and Ball and flowers from Fiona Penny.

All the finalists will receive six months free membership with Curves in Weymouth.
