SCHOOLS across Weymouth and Portland got into the Easter spirit before breaking up for the holidays.

A range of Easter-themed festivities took place, including a number of bonnet making competitions.

Children at schools including Beechcroft St Paul’s Primary School, Southwell Community Primary School and St Augustine’s Primary School all proudly showcased their home-made Easter bonnets and hats.

The appearance and size of bonnets varied from towering yellow feather designs to hats holding knitted rabbits or ducks and decorated eggs.

Southwell Community Primary school on Portland held an Easter bonnet parade to demonstrate their creative hat-making skills.

The winners at Southwell School were Macey McGregor, Sam Kennelly and Billy Barnwell.

The winning designs included a giant chick, a sheep bonnet and pink summer hat decorated with fluffy chicks, spotty eggs and Easter bunnies.
