VOLCANIC ash clouds couldn’t stop the campaign trail in Weymouth.
Secretary of State for Transport Lord Adonis joined the fight for South Dorset, by joining Labour candidate Jim Knight on the campaign trail. The minister had come from a meeting in Brussels about the new volcanic ash plumes causing chaos over Europe.
Lord Adonis joined Mr Knight at the site of the new Weymouth Relief Road and went to see where the park and ride facilities will be built. The minister outlined the three-pronged approach to tackling Weymouth’s traffic problems.
Lord Adonis said: “Jim has been campaigning for the road for many years. After decades we now have this £80million investment with a further £14 million for the Olympic transport package.”
“The park and ride system is integral to the relief road scheme, it is so important to get people out of their cars and onto public transport.”
Lord Adonis continued with Mr Knight by campaigning in Upwey and Broadwey before returning to London.

Jim Knight must be worried about losing his seat tommorrow judging by the amount of campaigning he seems to have done in Weymouth. That and all the big hiting Labour ministers he has drafted in to help him. Hopefully it will have all been to no avail

No need for Jim to worry it’s the rest of us that should worry about the possibility of Cameron or even Clegg getting in, we are in the *hit but it will be even worse if either of those two get their hands on the reins on their own.

Muttleyhanna says Jim Knight has done nothing for South Dorset in the past 13 years. Bit of a sweeping statement, maybe you could explain a bit more. What hasnt he done that you would have liked him to? Why do you think a majority of people voted him back a second time. Presumably because they were impressed the first time.

You will no doubt blame him when it gets dark tonight as well. The whole global thing was brought about by greedy bankers investing in the sub-prime market in the U.S.A not by Gordon Brown. And had it not been for him we would be in a much worse state now.
