ENJOY some pirate festivities this half term at Lulworth Castle.

Tales of smuggling, battles and piracy will be told at the castle’s six-day Pirate Festival.

There will be displays of black powder weapons, quizzes, games, story telling, face painting and lots more pirate themed activities.

Children will learn about how pirates lived and fought and they will even be able to learn how to speak like a pirate.

Pirate festival-goers are encouraged to arrive in fancy dress and there will be prizes for best pirate costumes.

There is free parking at the castle and there’s an on-site café and restaurant.

The event is included in the normal admission price with an additional charge of £2 for face painting.

Opening times are 10.30am until 6pm until Sunday June 6.

Last Saturday Lulworth Castle attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of pirates in one place.

The current record is set by Portland in Oregon, USA where 1,651 people dressed as pirates attended the Portland Pirate Festival.

Crowds of people turned up to the event at Lulworth on Saturday but unfortunately the current record held by Portland remains unbeaten.

All pirates were dressed for the occasion, with pirate hats, eye patches, swords and hooks, crossbone flags and parrots.

Join in with the pirate-themed fun this half term which continues at the iconic estate.

Lulworth Castle was built in the early 17th century as a hunting lodge which then became a country house at the heart of a large estate.
