DOZENS of athletic youngsters jumped 1,000 vaults each for charity after being inspired by nine-year-old Corey Brimble.
Corey and his Dorchester freerunning class took on the challenge to support the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT).
The charity has assisted Corey’s family since his older brother Max suffered an acquired brain injury (ABI) in 2001.
Corey’s freerunning instructor Jackson Turner organised the fundraiser and around 20 children and several adults took part at the event at Dorchester YMCA.
Proud mum Carole Potter, of Batcombe, near Evershot, said: “It went really well, we’re really proud of Corey.
“He did 1,000 vaults over a gym horse and was absolutely shattered when we picked him up.
“Loads of people took part and even Max did a little vault at the end.”
Mrs Potter said 14-year-old Max had a great time at the event and everyone he spoke to had time for him.
She added: “It’s great not only to raise funds but also to raise awareness of childhood brain injury.”
Corey, who attends St Andrew’s Primary School in Yetminster, Sherborne, said: “My instructor Jackson said I was the first to finish.
“It took me about three hours and near the end it was hard work.”
He added: “I like doing front flips best but we were doing vaults for charity.”
The event is expected to have raised hundreds of pounds for CBIT through sponsorship and a cake stall.
Instructor Jackson Turner, who runs Train Hard Parkour and Freerunning, said: “I think we had about 20 plus taking part at peak time, we had people dropping in throughout the day to do a few hundred vaults.
“We even had Isaiah Hamilton the young lad who won the knife crime rap competition recently taking part.
“It was a very good day as we had such a mix of people participating together for a good cause.
“Our youngest was a little girl called Olivia who is aged seven.
“My girlfriend also spent 12 hours in the kitchen the day before making loads of cakes which we snapped up very quickly with all proceeds going towards CBIT.”
He added: “I would like to thank the YMCA for everything they have done to help us not just for this event but for the four years we have been training there.
“They were the ones to open the door to allow us to train and because of their kindness we are now able to offer the sessions we do.”
