  • RAGAMUFFINS pre-school parents and staff embarked on a year long project to regenerate the garden area to enhance outdoor provision in line with current best practice in early years.

The completion of the new garden was celebrated with a garden party on July 9

Pre-school manager Debbie Greatorex reported that the pre-school received a £10,000 grant from Dorset county council, £2,150 grant from Purbeck community partnership and £300 from Bere Regis parish council towards the project, amongst others.

In addition parents held various fundraising events to raise money for the project, Debbie added.

Parents and staff have worked together to transform the garden into a wonderful space for play, exploration, growing vegetables or to be tranquil

There is so much for children to do.

They are always busy and engaged in what they are doing as noted in the recent Early Years audit where the pre-school achieved the highest grade, level 1.

With waterproof dungarees, coats and wellingtons the children can enjoy the garden whatever the weather.

The benefit to the children has been immense, supporting their physical and intellectual development within every area of the curriculum, Debbie went on.

We are very grateful to everybody for their wonderful support and wanted to show our appreciation with a garden party.
