BEAMING Alice Hall was all smiles after being crowned Miss Dorset.
Alice, 18, from Weymouth, won with a unanimous verdict at the final of the competition at the town’s Banus nightclub.
All 19 girls were interviewed by the judges and again on stage to give them the chance to show why they should get the chance to win and represent their county at the Miss England final.
And visitors to the busy venue also saw the girls strut their stuff as they performed a choreographed dance on the nightclub stage.
Alice, of South Road, Wyke Regis, went to All Saints School before doing her A-levels at Weymouth College.
She impressed the judges with her take on the competition’s ‘beauty with a purpose’ slogan and confidently told the audience how important she felt a girl’s character and personality were for the competition.
Afterwards a shocked Alice said she was starting up a mobile beauty business this year so is expecting to be busy.
And she said she hopes her win will inspire young people.
She said: “I’ve had a few hard years and I came through it confident, bubbly and hard working.
“My parents supported me through that and any kids who are having a hard time should know you don’t have to be the richest, prettiest or most intelligent.
“You have to be the most hard working to get what you want.
“Everything I’ve done I’ve pushed myself for by going with an open mind.”
By winning Alice qualifies for the Miss England final and the chance to enter Miss World.
Alice also won an evening gown from Bridal & Ball and a photoshoot with Simon Ackerman Photography.
Second place went to Larissa Hirst from New Milton. Emily Kishere from Bournemouth was third and Jodie Rodd from Portland fourth.
This year the Weymouth Lifeboat was the chosen charity for the competition and the girls raised £2,681.74.
Danielle De Bear, 17, from Cerne Abbas, was crowned Miss Lifeboat after raising £550, and Chantelle Lewis, 18, from West Parley, won the phone vote to be crowned Miss Popularity.
Ken Hunter, volunteer crew member at Weymouth Lifeboat, thanked the girls after judging the final alongside Arron Hendy from the Dorset Echo and Vonny Holmes, representing organisers Bellevue Promotions.
Mr Hunter said: “I was really impressed with the high calibre of the candidates.
“We’re eternally grateful for the good work they’ve done for the RNLI charity.”
Organiser Becky Chapman thanked hosts Banus.
She said: “It was a great night and everyone had a fantastic time.
“All the girls were lovely and we’ve already had e-mails from them thanking us and saying they enjoyed it so much.”
