A REWARD is being offered to find burglars as young as 12 who burgled a woman’s home when she was out with her daughter.

A £100 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the prosecution of children who broke into Fay Spanswick’s home in Love Lane, Weymouth, and stole a laptop and jewellery.

Ian Lambert, whose bankruptcy advisory organisation HS4B is based at Chapelhay nearby, said he believes the same group superglued the locks of his and his neighbours’ premises.

And he wants the young people responsible to be found.

He said: “Less than two weeks ago we and the other premises here in Chapelhay had our locks superglued. This resulted in a locksmith bill of £92.94.

“I believe the same children are responsible for the burglary in Love Lane. I also believe some adults and definitely some other children know who it was but are just too frightened to actually say anything.”

Mr Lambert said he was happy to speak to Chapelhay residents about ways of improving public safety at HS4B in Gordon Row.

He said he believed the children could be working under the guidance of an adult he has compared to the character Fagin from Charles Dickens’s Oliver Twist.

Mr Lambert said: “These children may be working on their own initiative, in which case they need to be re-routed and helped to take a different life path to the one they are on right now.

“If they are working for an adult who knows what they are doing, then that Fagin character needs dealing with immediately before they are allowed access to someone else’s children.”

Fay said she was ‘devastated’ by the burglary and that she wanted to leave the house as her daughter was afraid the burglars would return.

Sergeant Neil Wood, of Dorset Police, said he would welcome any information about the burglary in Love Lane on August 7.

“We want people to come forward,” he said.

Anybody with information can call Dorset Police on 01305 222222.
