Villagers have been preparing for the 'Giant Walking Stick Cabbage Competition' and it is hoped to see lots of entries whatever height they have reached.

There are many other classes to enter of course and the cookery classes have a variety of tree themed recipes and can we break the record for the number of entries in the apple cake class which stands at 20?

There are some new classes to enter for in Flowers and Foliage there is a class for orchids and in Vegetable and fruit a class for the strangest shaped vegetable AND its nickname!

So please enter as many items as you can and if you have not entered before don't be frightened to have a go.

Then come along to the Village Hall at 2.30 pm to see the wonderful displays, enjoy the friendly atmosphere and make some bids in the auction of produce.

If you need extra schedule copies please ring 01305 268156.

Then Moviola returns to the Village Hall for its Autumn season on Saturday 18th September with a showing of "The Last Station".

This film focuses on the last year of Count Tolstoy's life ( Tolstoy played by Christopher Plummer ) and this full bearded Shakespearian like figure presides over a household of intrigues.

Chertkov, one of his disciples, idealistically believes that the writer should leave his literary fortune to the Russian people but Tolstoy's wife ( Helen Mirren ) is livid about this.

The Times described the film as 'a comforting Sunday night costume drama with some epic performances'.

The film starts at 7.30 pm and entry is £5.

Please call Avril on 01305 263212 to reserve your seat so that numbers are known in advance.
