THE Church and Village Hall have launched two joint money raising schemes that do not affect your pocket!

Firstly, when you order anything on-line you go to the site www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes /langtonherringcvh and register, move on to the home page – log in and search for the retailer you want in the top left hand box, follow the link and make your purchase in the usual way – that is it! Shortly afterwards you will receive an e-mail from Easyfundraising to say how much you have raised, this money comes from the retailer NOT from your hard earned cash!

THE second scheme is a Fabric Collection, save all your clean/dry unwanted clothing, hats, belts, curtains, bedding, shoes (in pairs – tied or rubber banded together) put them all in a bag and bring it to the Village Hall on Saturday, November 20, we will do the rest!

  • BRITISH Pub Week was celebrated at the Elm Tree with gusto, something different each night, with the collecting bucket divided between the Air Ambulance and our local charities (I will report on amounts when they have been totalled).
  • There was a pub games evening – steak night – skittles (indoors, with one bar emptied for the occasion – absolutely hilarious), folk singing, ferret racing and a quiz night – I should imagine the staff are exhausted – well done!
  • BUILDING work in the Church is going apace, shouldn’t be long now, we apologise for the dusty state of the pews etc. but when they are finished we will be asking for help in the ‘clean up’, so have your dusters and hoovers at the ready!
  • THE Christmas Coffee Bazaar will be on Saturday, November 20 from 10 am till noon, so lots of home made goodies, craft, plants or anything else that will raise money for the Church Fabric Fund, which will be empty at the end of the works being done.
  • DO you enjoy fancy dress? – well, come along on Friday, November 19 for the “Allo Allo” night with Beaujolais Nouveau at the Elm Tree – get your thinking caps on & see who can come up with the best or most imaginative costume - I was thinking of Mimi, but my friends assure me I’m too old and too BIG, what rudeness!
