• ST JOHN’S School pupils have collected eighty-nine Christmas shoeboxes for the appeal.

These are to send to children in other countries who otherwise may not receive a Christmas present.

  • ALL parents, grandparents and friends are invited to St John’s Primary School Christingle Service.

This takes place on Tuesday, December 7 at 10am in St John’s Church.

  • PTA members provided drinks at each of the school’s class assemblies and they were thanked for all the extras they are doing now to prepare for the Christmas festivities.

Also, parents give of their time willingly to help raise money for special projects, such as the library this year and the weekly football club for the younger children, which is run by the school’s parent governor.

  • THE Friends of Lodmoor Country Park AGM at the Lodmoor Inn was well attended. Reports from the chair and secretary referred to the outstanding success of the last year, which had seen membership, grow from thirty to one hundred and twenty five households.

Events had taken place each month and had ranged from guided tree walks, bird watching, bulb planting, litter picking and competitions for all age groups.

A close working relationship with the local council had facilitated some important developments. The children’s play galleon may soon be joined by some new swings in the spring and the green gym is currently being installed.

Committee members and all supporters were thanked for their enthusiasm and it was decided to keep the subscription at just £1, with a full range of interesting activities promised for the coming year.
