• WHAT a white Christmas! It certainly looked beautiful but my goodness wasn’t it icy? – the village roads were skating rinks, with ONE spread of grit on a couple of lanes in 3 weeks.

Earlier, DDC promised we would have a dump of grit at one of the farms but it never materialised, so even when some stalwarts did some clearing (using hammers to break the ice before shovelling it up!) it was privately bought grit that then made for safe walking. Thank you to all those concerned.

  • MIDNIGHT service went ahead (in some trepidation!) with 25 brave folk turning up – I chickened out, worried that a second fall might do damage to my new hip – but I gather it was a lovely service & walking back home under the nearly full moon, was a magical feeling.

The Christmas morning service was as joyful as ever and well done all those who braved the roads.

  • THE New Year has been welcomed in, in the time honoured way and now is the start up of the clubs! Gentlemen’s table tennis is on Thursday and ladies on Friday evenings in the Village Hall – work off those extra pounds – laughing , if nothing else, I gather!
  • IN September Nicky and Alexander did the sponsored Cycle Ride for Dorset Historic Churches Trust & raised a nice sum for them & St Peter’s, but we hear Alexander had an ‘icy’ accident – has his leg in plaster and missed his skiing holiday. Get better soon!
  • WE have a celebration this weekend as Fay has an ‘important birthday’ – I mustn’t say HOW important but many congratulations Fay, from all your friends & neighbours. The flag will be flying in your honour!
