Detective Chief Superintendent Colin Stanger made a plea to Douglas to hand himself in and for anyone helping him to give him up.

He said: “I am appealing to Colin to give himself up, he knows his offences will have to be dealt with at some stage and I’m also appealing to friends and family to work with us.”

He added: “I would also like to make it clear that anyone found to be helping, harbouring, or in any way aiding Colin Douglas will be arrested.

“I am appealing to Colin’s friends and family to do the right thing and help us to locate him as soon as possible.”
