TWO celebrities have joined the DCH Digital Mammography Appeal by donating special raffle prizes.

One of the country's most successful sailors has joined in with the DCH Digital Mammography Appeal.

Yachtsman Ben Ainslie CBE, the three times Olympic champion, has donated one of his race shirts, which he has signed, for sale by the appeal to raise funds. Ben is hoping for another medal at next year's Olympic Games.

Appeal chairman Wendy Nightingale said: “I'd like to thank Ben and his team for supporting us. It’s a wonderful gesture and we are going to put the shirt on eBay later this month to maximise the money we can raise by targeting people who collect Olympic or Sailing memorabilia.”

And British fashion designer and doyenne of British fashion Vivienne Westwood has also donated a pair of silver earrings to the appeal.

The earrings were collected from the Vivienne Westwood shop in London by the appeals manager Stevie Pattison-Dick. She said: “Vivienne was en route to France for the Paris Fashion Week shows, but the staff were really kind and wished us well for the fundraising. I’d like to thank the team at Vivienne Westwood for donating the jewellery which we will be raffling in the hospital’s Damers Restaurant on Wednesday, March 23 between 8am and 5pm.” Tickets will be £1 each.
