CERNE ABBAS KATE Adie OBE will open the Cerne Valley Art Exhibition on Saturday, July 3 at noon.

It runs for nine days until Sunday, July 31, from 10:30am – 6pm, starting at 11am on Thursdays and 12:30pm on Sundays.

Part of the sales profits and donations will go to “Combat Stress”.

HISTORICAL Society: Have you been to Minterne Gardens but never to Minterne House?

Whether you are familiar with the gardens or not, now is your chance to take a look inside the house!

Lord and Lady Digby will be your guide whilst you learn about the colourful past of their ancestors and admire fascinating artefacts.

Two tours are available – one on Thursday, July 28 at 2pm and one on Monday, September 5 at 11am.

Tickets for the first one are £ 7 with Afternoon Tea on offer, tickets for the second tour are £ 19.50, including lunch.

A NEW pre-school facility will be offered from the end of October.

This facility will run from 9am – noon, Monday to Friday at Buckland Newton Primary School.

If your child is between two years, nine months and five years old, this could be of interest to you!

The cost for non-funded individuals is £ 4 per hour, no additional cost occurs with Early Years Funding Vouchers.

A separate play area with many facilities exists for this pre-school which Buckland Newton school staff and governors are very pleased to start.

LYDDEN Vale Gardening Club: The club’s next outing is a trip to Askermead with a subsequent social evening at the Village Hall.

Please come to the Village Hall at 5:45pm to participate, it is only a short walk to the gardens from there.

Drinks and finger food will be enjoyed at the Village Hall afterwards.

A CELEBRATION of remembrance will take place on Sunday, July 24.

The village will remember the twenty local men who left home to fight in the two World Wars and sadly never returned.

This event which will be visited by relatives of almost all of the men will include Holy Communion at 11am and a rededication at noon.

The county and local branches of the Royal British Legion will be parading and the Last Post will be sounded as a salute.
