GODMANSTONE A BIG “Thank You” goes to everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s village fete which was held on Saturday, July 16.

£ 1531 were collected towards the maintenance of Holy Trinity Church and the newly refurbished Village Hall.

Particular thanks go to the Best family for enabling the fete to take place on their grounds.

CERNE ABBAS FOLLOWING the election by the Village Hall Committee, David Evans, Stuart Garrow and George Mortimer are acting Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary once again.

They will, however, be looking to give up their roles once the proposed hall building changes are complete.

Following a recommendation from CASH , a Mill Mead Working Group will be established in order to restore Mill Mead, the historic name of the field below the hall.

This will involved some general scrub clearing, coppicing, de-silting of ditches etc.

It is hoped to get the work done with a mixture of contractors and volunteers.

A maintenance programme will be developed to be adhered to thereafter.

The patio area will also be made more attractive, including the re-laying of the decking.

Furthermore, the planting of the slope overlooking Mill Mead will be revised in order to create a real viewpoint.

Finally, a request by the committee concerning the wheelie bin at the rear of the hall: Please take with you anything that qualifies for recycling!

The wheelie bin is being emptied regularly but not being sorted through so please recycle what you can – thank you!
