Weymouth experiences average July weather

WEYMOUTH experienced an ‘average’ July for weather with a mixture of sun and rain.

Bob Poots, Weymouth weather man, said the first few dry days of the month were followed by three days of showers, then dry again until the third week when rainfall was recorded every day.

The final nine days of July were dry, although there was still less sun in the last fortnight than normally expected.

Rainfall was slightly below the 30-year average for July, with the highest rainfall of 11.6mm on Tuesday, July 5.

Dorchester experienced a cool July with a near average rainfall.

John Oliver, Dorchester weather man, said the mean maximum temperature of 20.48C was 1.3C below normal.

A peak temperature of 24.6C was noted on July 25 which was the lowest extreme maximum since 22.2C in 2007.

I was walking round my local park recently and was nonplussed by the average amount of dog fouling in evidence.

I bought some products from local shops, and found them of reasonable price and quality.

I made a cup of tea. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't the best cuppa I've ever had.

I bought fish and chips from a shop I've never tried before the other day. Not the best I've ever tasted, but I've had worse. I dare say - if push came to shove - one could call it "average", just like July's weather!!!!!

Brilliant - to all of the comments above. Was wondering how on earth the story about what the Leary family do on their annual holiday was news and then I came across this cracker! Echo staff, I think you should probably clock off early today, your job here is done.

I think you will find that Asda ready meals are more average than Morrisons.

Would you say the number of holiday-makers was average, above average, or below average?

All this pointing out how average things are - it's a bit mean, isn't it?
