YOU can help a group of determined fund-raisers on a mission to raise £10,000 by buying their exclusive calendar in the Echo offices.

The well-known Weymouth group The Baldies launched their all-star 2012 calendar in order to raise as much as possible for the Digital Mammography Appeal at Dorset County Hospital.

The calendar features nine of the women from Weymouth who took part in a sponsored head shave earlier this summer.

The group and their friends took part in a number of fundraising activities to raise £20,000 in a mammoth head shaving event through Weymouth.

They have now raised a further £8,000 by holding a party in Weymouth Pavilion and from various other donations.

Now the ladies have released the 2012 calendar – which is a high-quality glossy calendar featuring professional photos of the Baldies.

Organiser Anne-Marie Male said: “If we sell all 2,000 of the calendars we will make £10,000 which will really boost the fundraising effort.

“All I am asking is that for one year people buy our calendar so that we can have this machine which is really needed at the hospital.”

A total of 12 businesses sponsored the calendar so that it was free to produce and every penny raised can be donated straight to the appeal.

Mrs Male added: “I would like to thank the generous businesses who sponsored the calendar so that we are able to donate all the funds.”

The Baldies were inspired by Weymouth hairdresser Anne-Marie Male who was diagnosed with breast cancer last October on her 42nd birthday.

To thank the businesses and people in Dorset who have supported the group, The Baldies held a sellout party in the Pavilion on Saturday, October 1 and raised more than £4,000.

More than 650 attended the successful evening and helped to raise £1,150 on the raffle.

Organiser Mrs Male said: “It was an amazing night.

“It was a great night and a fantastic way to thank everyone that has supported The Baldies all year.”

The DCH Boost appeal has raised more than £410,000 so far but needs to raise £500,000 in order to buy and install a digital mammography machine at the hospital, which will save lives.

The calendar costs £5 and is currently on sale at both the Echo offices in the Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth, Antelope Walk, Dorchester, the League of Friends Shop in Dorset County Hospital, the Wessex FM office in Dorchester, Beales Newsagents, The League of Friends shop in Dorset County Hospital and The Party Shop on Abbotsbury Road.
