SHOPPER are being reminded that they can donate to the Echo Christmas Toy Appeal seven days a week.

Goulds Garden Centre in Littlemoor Road, Weymouth, is collecting donations from generous customers.

Garden centre director Anthony Gould said that although many people are busy working in the week it has never been easier to donate.

He said: “People are pushed for time, with work Monday to Friday, sometimes more.

“But the great thing is that with collection bins in stores like this, you can make a donation any day, even on Sundays.

“We are open seven days a week.”

Local people wishing to donate to the appeal do not need to lose out on their leisure time, with collection bins across Dorset available every day.

The Echo office on the Granby Industrial Estate and the Dorchester office in Antelope Walk are also accepting donations.

Last year the Weymouth office was filled with sacks of presents to be given to needy children across the county.

Now in its 12th year, the Christmas Toy Appeal has brought festive cheer to hundreds of children and this year the Echo is hoping to help even more.

The Echo is also appealing for more businesses to donate £100 to the appeal which will top up the funds raised and ensure that every child who has signed up receives a gift.

Anthony Gould said: “It’s lovely to be able to give something back to the local community and we are more than happy to do anything we can to support that.”

The Toy Appeal is part of the Echo’s Give Back This Christmas campaign in which the paper will highlight all good deeds and festive spirit over the coming weeks.

Please only donate new, unwrapped presents and please no cuddly toys – we get more than we can cope with.
