TEACHERS who are leading the borough’s schools through 2012 Games plans have thrown their support behind a giant sticker campaign.

The ‘Olympic Champions’ were delighted with the giant Bring on the Games stickers, which have been produced by the Dorset Echo in partnership with the NHS Team Dorset Challenge, borough council and Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce for every borough school.

The iconic image of a British sailing boat in action and message ‘Be Inspired, Be Part Of It’ will be displayed in all the Chesil Education Partnership schools, to reflect how the official ‘Get Set’ members, are committed to making the most of this unique event.

Fourteen of the 27 borough schools now have their giant Bring on the Games stickers, the remaining 13 will get them early in the New Year.

Caroline Peer, Chesil Development Leader, said: “The giant Bring on the Games stickers will help raise local schools’ awareness and excitement of the Olympics and Paralympics in Weymouth and Portland and help promote the children’s understanding of the Games.”

The Olympic Champions meet regularly to discuss preparations and curriculum ideas linked with the 2012 sailing events, with a key focus being part of a national School Games through their own school sports days next year.

At their latest gathering, hosted at the Wey Valley School and Sports College, they watched a presentation by the Wey Valley’s Young Ambassador team, heard about the Dorset Echo’s forthcoming Going for Gold weekly schools page and the NHS Team Dorset Challenge.
