STRATTON and Bradford Peverell WI invites you to their Annual Pancake Coffee Morning at 10.30am on Tuesday, February 21.

Entry costs just £1 to include freshly cooked pancakes, tea or coffee.

The speaker for the WI’s next regular meeting on Thursday, February 16 will be Julian Nangle, who will be talking about his life as an Antiquarian Bookseller.

THE LADIES’ Thursday Group (the new name for St Mary’s Wives Group) will be holding its next meeting at Bradford Peverell Village Hall at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 23.

This is going to be a fun evening with tastings and a quiz with prizes.

Everyone (male or female) is most welcome to come along – the cost is only 50p to visitors.

The group’s next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Thursday, March 22 in Stratton Village Hall, when Edward Taylor will talk about his work as a thatcher.

ANY YOUNG people between the ages of 10 and 18 years, living within easy travelling distance of Stratton, are invited to join the Stratton Youth Club.

Activities include the Action Van, badminton competitions, quizzes, cooking and funky hair nights - all for just £1.

The cost is kept to a minimum by using volunteer youth workers from the local area. Anyone wishing to join the team should contact Clive Moore on 07938809902. Clive would also like to hear from anyone with a specific talent, who would be willing to lead (or help with) an activity session.

Activities for the remainder of February are the Action Van (including trampoline) on Wednesday, February 22 and a quiz on Wednesday, February 29.

HAYLEY’s London Marathon Quiz Night takes place on Saturday March 3 in Frampton Village Hall.

‘Eyes down’ is at 7.30pm. Please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Tea/coffee and cakes will be on sale during the interval. There will be a raffle afterwards.

80% of the proceeds from this event will go to Weldmar Hospice Care Trust and 20% to AID International.

A VACANCY exists for the part time position of Parish Clerk to Frampton Parish Council.

The position is remunerated and will be of interest to somebody who wishes to understand and contribute to the processes involved with parish councils.

The successful candidate must have good communication and word processing skills and be required to take minutes, write letters, contact various organisations and act as an administrative contact for Frampton Parish Council.

MELBURY Osmond Garden and Show Society will be hosting a Spring Talk on Tuesday, March 6 with a return visit by Neil Lovesy from Pickets Lane Nursery.

The title of the talk is Perennial Colour.

FRAMPTON is already making plans to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

These include flower arranging in the church, a competition for the best decorated house, beating the parish bounds, a thanksgiving service in the church, a picnic on the Green, rafts on the river, Pimms and strawberries in the village hall, an evening performance by Frampton Footlights and a bonfire with fireworks.

Frampton Parish Council will hold its next meeting to discuss the celebrations in more detail on Tuesday, March 6. All are welcome to attend.

FRAMPTON’s Waste Paper Fund had generously donated money for Jubilee coins to present to the children of the parish to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee, money for flowers in the church and a further £500 towards costs.

The waste paper fund committee is currently trying to compile a list of children residing in the Parish of Frampton up to and including 16 years of age, at June 1, 2012, with the intention of presenting them with a Royal Mint commemorative coin.

The committee needs those names NOW, as the deadline is Wednesday, February 29.
