Dorset Police have issued a warning to residents urging them not to fall victim to a credit card scam.
During the scam, the victim is asked to give away the three digit security number on the back of their credit cards.
The victim receives a phone call from someone claiming to be from a credit card company, telling them an unusual purchase has been made on their card.
The caller asks the victim if they have purchased a £497.99 anti-telemarketing device.
When the victim says no, the caller tells them their account will be credited and reads out the victim’s home address for them to confirm.
The victim is then asked for the three digit security number to verify their identity further.
Dorset Police said that this is the information the caller, who already has the victim’s credit card number and home address needs to make illegal purchases.
