THE crew of the Portland Coastguard helicopter faced challenging conditions during a dramatic rescue.
The aircraft was scrambled to an isolated spot between Exmoor and Dartmoor in Devon where a man had fallen from his horse and been kicked in the face by the animal.
Low cloud and poor visibility over Dartmoor forced the helicopter to divert to the coast on its way to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.
The helicopter returned to base after three-and-a-half hours on Friday.
