ALAN Knight is hopeful Max Worsfold will be sidelined for no more than a fortnight.

The Aldershot loanee left the Avenue Stadium pitch on a stretcher in Tuesday night’s friendly with a Portsmouth XI.

Dorchester’s boss admits he feared the worst as the 19-year-old was carried away but after an initial assessment, it appears Worsfold has avoided any serious damage.

Knight said: “Max was a bit of a worry and it was a bit of a déjà vu moment from when Ben Dickenson got injured at Salisbury back in January.

“It wasn’t from a bad tackle or anything, it was rather innocuous and he just turned on his ankle. He was assessed by the medics and thankfully the injury is not as bad as first feared.

“You always fear the worst in those situations but hopefully he will only be out for a couple of weeks. However, I’ve not had confirmation from the experts yet.”

The match ended 2-2 with Sam Malsom and Ryan Dovell on target for the Magpies.

Knight added: “Prior to Max’s injury it was a really good game and one we desperately needed against good quality opposition.

“We were a bit slow to start with, which was probably understandable, and we scored against the run of play. They then equalised but for the rest of the first half we were in control.

“Overall there was more good than bad and it was as close as we could have got to playing a league game.”

The Magpies return to Blue Square Bet South action on Saturday as Havant & Waterlooville – Knight’s former employers – come to town.
