THE roar of motorcycle engines will be heard across Weymouth this Sunday.
The popular Weymouth Beach Motocross is returning with well over 200 riders set to compete on the sands this year.
Crowds of more than 10,000 are expected to line the Promenade as the daredevil riders race along the beach and leap over jumps.
Organised by Weymouth and Portland Lions Club in association with the Purbeck Motocross Club, it is the biggest amateur event in the country and raises thousands of pounds for charity.
Motocross attracts fans from all over, many of whom bring their own bikes and park along the seafront.
As well as this added attraction, visitors can look in on the race pit area and browse the motocross trade village.
The race programme consists of a one-hour practice session from noon followed by six races of three classes from 1pm to 4pm.
