WEYMOUTH Ladies hosted their second fixture of the season against Southampton Ladies with Ruth Hicks and Charlotte Chard making impressive debuts.
Fielding a smaller pack that were quick to support runners, Southampton took control of the opening exchanges, running in some good tries after Weymouth missed their early tackles.
The hosts regrouped with skipper Sarah Jane Parker leading from the front by starting to knock down their opponents.
Early in the second half, Weymouth began to win more possession, keeping the ball and stringing phases together. And strong mauling and rucking helped force Southampton backwards as the home side searched for a score.
The visitors had to work hard but they eventually regained control, finishing as they had started and running in some well-worked tries to claim the win.
Weymouth coach Nathan Parker said: “The ladies have come a long way since their first fixture and the improvement has been superb.”
Player of the Match: Sarah Jane Parker
