A BLAZE that destroyed a Weymouth business was caused accidentally.

The inferno that engulfed Baby and Me UK in Avon Close, Granby Industrial Estate last Thursday was caused accidently fire, investigators have found.

The business sold children and baby’s cots, prams, car seats and was a specialist in mattresses.

A total of 45 firefighters tackled the blaze on Thursday evening and were on scene on Friday dampening down the smouldering shell of the building.

A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the fire had been found to be ‘accidental but unknown’.

He said: “The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”

He added: “The damage was so bad we could not say with 100 per cent certainty what caused it.”

Six fire engines, two water carriers and an aerial platform attended the blaze.

Dorset Police had to close the B3175 Chickerell link Road as black smoke billowed across the road and diversions were put in place around the area.

The fire also caused smoke damage to the next door business JMK Auto Repairs.
