PRICES for riding on the new Weymouth Tower have been revealed.

People will be charged £8 regardless of age if they just turn up at the waterfront attraction – but passengers who book in advance through the website will pay £7.20.

Priority tickets are also available for people who don’t want the hassle of queuing.

It will cost £11 for this privilege but there will be £2 off when booking online.

A Merlin Entertainments spokesman said there will just be a single price ticket and no family discount available.

For the money, passengers will get a 10-minute ride in the viewing ‘gondola’ but this journey can be lengthened depending on demand.

The 53-metre tower is being built behind the Pavilion and is expected to open in early July.

Merlin is now looking for people with a head for heights to work at the attraction.

Six ride operator posts need to be filled. The jobs will be full and part-time and as well as operating the gondola, staff will be required to describe landmarks and recount facts about the Jurassic Coast.

The group is also looking to recruit a similar number of people to work as welcome hosts to greet passengers.

Carrying up to 70 passengers at a time, the gondola is expected to be operating at full capacity for most of the summer.
