Lucky escape

THE British Sonar Team had a lucky escape when their car was almost in collision with a bus.

The Portland-based trio, who will be representing Team GB in the Sonar keelboat class at the Paralympic Games this summer, were in Oxford when the near-miss with the number 69 bus occurred.

Helm John Robertson said yesterday: “We had a quite exciting near-death experience with number 69 bus travelling to Neilsen Oxford – they don’t stop for nothing.

“We were trying to cross a bus lane and clearly indicating but the bus kept coming, it stopped just in time.

“We’ve been visiting lots of Neilsen offices during a couple of our sponsorship days we’re contracted to do – to keep them up to speed with what we’re up to and to give them pointers on how they can use what we do in their business – the mental side of things and planning.”

Robertson and his crewmates Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas are off to Hyeres, France next week ahead of a World Cup event from April 20.
