FREE parking will be available in Sherborne to celebrate the Queen’s visit to the town tomorrow.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will be visiting the town as part of the Diamond Jubilee tour of the South West.

All West Dorset District Council-run car parks in Sherborne will free throughout the day. Leader of West Dorset District Council Robert Gould said: “We are thrilled to be able to welcome Her Majesty The Queen to Sherborne. It is a real honour.”

“It is an historic occasion and for that reason the district council is pleased to be able to offer free parking throughout the day of the visit. Sherborne is the only place in Dorset Her Majesty will be visiting and it is a unique opportunity for us to invite people to join us for this wonderful event.”

The Queen will arrive at Sherborne train station at 9.55am by Royal Train to visit Sherborne Abbey and Digby Church Memorial Hall before departing at 11am.
