Chickerell Youth FC’s annual football tournament at Budmouth College once again proved a huge success.
Teams from all over Dorset and the surrounding areas, as well as Wales and Coventry, took part in the youth festival, which this year was sponsored by Mouchel.
Spokesman Tony Williams said: “We were pleased to be asked to sponsor this community event in Dorset.
“We were even more delighted that the football tournament was such a success, and enjoyed by so many young people.”
The trophies were sponsored by CG Fry and the pitches were sponsored by a number of other local businesses, many of which also helped with equipment and supplies.
Each age group was well represented, however, it was particularly pleasing to see so many younger teams attend.
The football on display at all levels was of a very high standard and made for exciting and often tense matches, including several penalty shootouts.
Despite the very warm conditions all the children gave everything to play well and do their best.
A tournament organiser added: “A big well done goes to all those who participated and many congratulations go to all the winners and runners-up.
“The under-8s are strictly non-competitive so all of them received a medal for participating.
“Finally, a huge thank you goes to everyone who supported us on both days.”
Special appreciation was also expressed to all the people that helped plan the tournament and make it happen, including Dave Drage, Katherine and Will Stewart, all the committee members and parents that contributed, and BOCA and R&B for their continued support.
