WHY, why, why, do we have to have a one way system for four-and-a-half months?

Is there a fund to cover the extra fuel?

I will now have to go three times as far to get to Victoria Square to then start my normal drive to work.

Fuel prices are on the increase and even if I tried to get the bus to work there are none running on East Weare Road for me to get to work for 6.30am.

I would have to catch the Dorchester bus as I work on the other side of Weymouth, or catch two buses which I have done before and it takes forever to get there.

The cost of the bus fare would all be extra money going out, and the wages do not go up with petrol prices.

The road takes two-way traffic so what is the reason behind stopping it?

We have had traffic lights before to keep traffic flowing so why not now?

The people who plan these things probably do not even live on the Island.

I have in the past got stuck behind lorries which are delivering and the waste wagons which have their job to do and do try very hard not to delay too long just another problem for Portlanders to put up with.

I hope that on the way home all the people concerned with the Games are still parked up and a quick drive home will be possible.

I and many others will be glad when it is all over with and we can get our Island back but sadly not the Officers Field – just one more thing taken away.

All the games have given to Portland is havoc.
