SKANDIA Team GBR is the British Sailing Team in the Olympic and Paralympic classes.

The sailors train and compete across 10 Olympic Classes: Finn, Laser Radial, Laser, 470 men and women, 49er, Star, RS:X men and women windsurfers and, new for London 2012, Women’s Olympic Classes Match Racing.

There are three Paralympic Classes: the Sonar, 2.4mR and Skud-18.

Great Britain is the world’s top Olympic classes sailing nation.

In a Dorset Echo column, Britain’s sailors are bringing an insight into their campaign for glory at the London 2012 Games.

Here’s Poole’s Lucy Macgregor, who has been selected for the Match Racing class with her sister Kate Macgregor and Annie Lush.

WE WANT a medal at the Games – so that means we have to properly manage our time and other commitments.

We have been fairly strict on ourselves in terms of what we are and aren’t going to do and what we do and don’t want to do.

It is all part of the experience in some ways but at the end of the day, what we want is an Olympic medal.

It is easy for a lot of those other sorts of things to become a distraction and take up a lot of valuable time.

We are certainly trying to be careful to make sure that, first and foremost, we get on with the proper work.

Then, when there is time, we will try to do the best we can for our sponsors, media and everything else.

We have had this week off and it has been our last proper time off to chill out until the Games.

Every other week from now will be taken up with various activities or responsibilities here, there and everywhere.

We had been looking forward to this break and it comes before we continue building towards the Sail for Gold regatta.

We will have a week of training here in Weymouth before the event starts the following week.

Annie, Kate and I look forward to keeping you updated on our progress. Thanks for your support.
