WELL-BLOCKED: The military lorry that lost its load under a railway bridge
A military vehicle lost its load going under a low bridge.
The vehicle was passing under the railway bridge between West Knighton and Woodsford at around 4pm yesterday when it clipped the structure and its container fell off the back.
Police closed the road for several hours while recovery was arranged for the container, which came to a rest just under the bridge.
One of the occupants of the vehicle, who did not wish to be named, said they were on their way to Bovington Army Camp when the unfortunate incident occurred.
He said: “We were following the sat-nav and anticipated we would fit through but obviously we didn’t.
“The container hit the top of the bridge and snapped off.”
He added: “We’re just waiting for our unit to recover us.”
