PATIENTS are invited to join in a ‘conversation’ about healthcare services in Weymouth and Portland.

The NHS in Dorset is trialling a new idea to keep people informed about services.

A meeting at Weymouth Fire Station next Thursday, June 14, takes the form of a conversation between three local health professionals and patients.

Each guest professional will outline their role in the NHS and questions will be invited.

First will be Kay Kelsall, Community Services Manager (Adult) for Weymouth and Portland. Then Anne Hiscock will speak of her work as the new matron of Portland and Westhaven Hospitals and of the Weymouth Minor Injuries Unit.

Dr Jon Orrell, vice chairman of the Weymouth and Portland Locality Commissioning Group will discuss the future of the NHS under the new legislation, as part of the new commissioners which will take over from NHS Dorset next year.

The meeting, starts at 2pm.
