THIEVES stole eight mobile phones valued at over £3,000 from a store in Dorchester town centre.

Officers in the county town are appealing for witnesses to the theft, which took place at the Vodafone shop in South Street at around 3.30pm yesterday.

Police Constable Melanie Caldow, of Dorchester Police, said: “The men quickly entered the store where they simultaneously ripped the phones from the display and ran out into the street.

“They ran up Antelope Walk in the direction of Princes Street where they were seen getting into a grey Volkswagen hatchback parked outside the Sportarm shop.”

One of the three men was wearing all dark clothing, another had a grey hooded top on with dark coloured jeans and white trainers and the third was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms with a black stripe down the side, a dark hooded top and dark trainers.

PC Caldow said: “I urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Dorset Police as soon as possible.

“I am also keen to speak to a lady who saw the offenders get in to the vehicle and passed this information to staff at the Vodafone shop.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police on 101, quoting incident number 14:257.
