FOR its latest concert, Yeovil Chamber Choir, conducted by musical director Helen Brind, has chosen a programme of music to reflect the heritage of Great Britain, especially the great maritime tradition.

They will be singing madrigals in praise of Elizabeth I, settings of words by Shakespeare and settings of folk songs from various parts of Britain.

The performance will also include the premiere of three new songs by local poet Vanessa Young, who draws her inspiration from the Dorset landscape and coastline heritage. Guest soloist again is talented young soprano Jenny Featherstone singing music by Henry Purcell, John Ireland and Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Louise Dukes accompanies the singers, on piano and piano accordion. The concert is on June 23 at 7.30pm in St Andrew’s Church, Yeovil.

Tickets on the door or in advance from 01935 873719.
