A GROUP of parents who all lost their babies are calling for a joke book to be banned.

The Ultimate Dead Baby Joke Book is being sold on Amazon.

Members of a Dorchester-based support group for bereaved parents called Forget-Me-Nots want local people to sign a petition to get the book removed from sale.

They have also hit out against a Facebook page of the same name with more than 600 fans.

The book claims it is an ‘outrageous parody of grotesqueness’ and is ‘sick, twisted and totally wrong’.

Amy Fisher, 29, from Wyke Regis, who lost her daughter Ruby at 28 weeks after getting septicaemia, says the book is very ‘distressing’.

The mum of four added: “It is really distressing and something we all feel strongly about.

“We just can’t believe that this book is even out there, there is even a Facebook page. We want as many people as possible to sign the petition so something can be done.

“The Facebook page is filled with disgusting, horrific jokes about dead babies.”

The petition currently has 2,200 signatures but the parents want to drive enough support to get the issue noticed.

Michelle Crouch, 33, of Weymouth, lost her son Marcus three years ago.

She said: “We’re all connected because of our loss so something like this really upsets us. Clearly, the person who made this and those who like it have never lost a child so could not understand.

“We hope that if we can get 10,000 signatures we will have some hope of the issue being noticed by the Government.”

The book covers ‘everything inside you could ever need when dealing with a dead baby’ from ‘survival tactics’ to ‘recipes’.

Mandy Homer, 39, of Dorchester, whose daughter Mia was stillborn, said she wanted the book removed straight away.

She added: “It needs to be taken off Amazon and Facebook, it is awful. It says it is part one so we are worried there will be more.”

The Echo contacted Amazon but no-one was available for comment.

The group meet on the second Monday of every month.
