I am a local resident and lived in Weymouth all my life and have seen Weymouth change over the years, especially the improved walkways, in particular the improvements to King Street. As a driver and pedestrian, I pass thought King Street on a regularly basis.

Since the change to the pathways and removing the railings that prevented members of the public walking out on to the junction of King Street, I have seen numerous near-misses, involving pedestrians and cars alike. It won’t be long until there is a tragedy at this junction.

Clearly people will naturally find a direct route from A to B, but in the past the railings prevented people from taking such a dangerous path. There is a subway, or better still, integrate a crossing at this junction as soon as possible.

If it is left then someone will get seriously injured or killed here. I hope that Dorset County Council can resolve this serious issue before it’s too late.
