SEVERE flood warnings are in place after torrential rain hit south and west Dorset.
Emergency services are warning people not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.
Flooding has hit the coast road between Abbotsbury and Portesham but the A35 between Dorchester and Bridport has been affected - particularly around Winterbourne Abbas.
Other minor roads have partially blocked by floods and fallen trees.
The Dorset Seafood Festival has been called off today but organisers hope it will go ahead on Sunday.
Homes in the Park District also face the threat of flooding.
The Environment Agency has issued a severe weather warning for the county and many rivers including the Wey and the Brit, Asker and Bride in the west of the county.
