Updated: road closure news

THE A35 at Winterbourne Abbas is still shut due to flooding from the recent deluge of rain.

The A3066 Beaminster tunnel also remains closed, a Dorset Police spokesman said.

Local authority emergency planning departments are working to evacuate residents from flooded homes as required.

Temporary traffic lights remain in place on the A37 by the Charminster junction causing significant tailbacks in both directions.

Must be like the other new place on the coast road, 'Portis Ham'. Or at least thats what Wessex FM calls it.

I've driven through a number of 'road closed' signs over the past 2 days, and have found empty, unflooded roads. Portesham, Winterbourne Abbas, and the A35 between there and Dorchester to name but a few. I know services are stretched by the exceptional weather conditions, but why are so many routes 'closed' unnecessarily?

hellojohn
I expect that they are leaving the signs so that they don't have to put them out the next time we have a downpour (:o))

Travel on Thursday seems a bit dangerous with rain forecast.
