This puts a whole new meaning to the phrase TRUNK ROAD - you need to wear trunks to use it!

Wessex FM say it's fully open both directions.
The Highways Agency state the road is closed eastbound and open west bound.
Every source has a different take on wether it's open or closed. Take your pick!

"Re -Winterbourne Abbas A35 road closure .
The road at Winterbourne Abbas was recently closed due to severe flooding . This was justified at the time however it remained closed even after the floods had subsided .
The dates I am referring to are 12 ,13 14 15 July . There was only minor surface water( away from houses ) and traffic could have been controlled by speed limits or traffic light as appropriate . Indeed much traffic was ignoring your road closure signs and negotiating the road with no problem .
The chaos and inconvenience to surrounding area due to unnecessary closure was impressive .
I travelled to the West Country on Saturday . To the West of Winterbourne Abbas there was a hold up due to a set of traffic lights by a section of road with water at the edge of it . The traffic could have been two way there .
By the way there was Eastbound traffic using the road even though your website said the road was closed !!
On my return on Sunday , matrix signs on the M5 and at Honiton displayed that the A35 was closed after Bridport . It was not . Your web site also said it was closed .
Today , 16th July , our local radio said that the A35 open " even though the Highways Agency web site says it is closed ".
I and others in Dorset have lost all faith in the HA . It has appeared incompetent , able to close roads but not to take action to re-open them as soon as possible , and unable to give accurate information .
I await your comments with interest .
