The Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art goes from strength to strength and the line-up this year offers treats for all.

The organisers, a dedicated team of volunteers in the village and another of music professionals in London, plan a week full of events that will run from August 19 to 24. Attractions include an art exhibition, lunchtime and late night recitals, jazz and classical music.

It is the collaboration between the professionals in London and the volunteers in the village that make the festival special. In London, internationally acclaimed violinist David Juritz works with enthusiasm to attract professionals at the top of their game.

Burton Bradstock provides the beautiful and intimate venue with its tiny church and the audience of old and new fans for sell-out concerts.

Joining violinist David Juritz will be festival stalwarts Craig Ogden and Milos Milivojevic plus accomplished pianist Caroline Dowdle. Special guests will include clarinettist Anna Hashimoto, harpist Eluned Pearce and flautist Michael Cox.

The art exhibition opens on Sunday, August 19, in the village hall – bringing together paintings by some of the best artists in the South West.

For the first concert on August 20, jazz sextet 6pac return by popular demand to perform a programme of jazz classics and original compositions.

Later David Juritz and Craig Ogden perform sonatas by Scarlatti and others. On the Tuesday, there will be a lively evening of Balkan folk music.

On Wednesday, audiences will hear two iconic works for harp and chamber ensemble, Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro and Debussy’s Sonata for Flute, Viola and Harp.

Thursday’s concert celebrates the best of British with music by Vaughan Williams, Delius and Purcell. The week concludes with an orchestral concert of music by Debussy and Vivaldi.
