THE National Lottery will be making 100 people into millionaires at the opening ceremony of the Olympics tonight.

Weymouth residents were given the chance to party like a lottery winner at a celebration in New Bond Street with giant dummy cheques, a throne and £1million in cash to look at.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Being able to celebrate like a millionaire is a unique experience and it was great to let people enjoy that moment of fun.

“With 100 UK millionaires being created in one night, it's possible one of today's visitors to the 100 UK millionaire's experience in Weymouth could even be one of our future winners.”

The National Lottery offered Weymouth the chance to celebrate like a millionaire in preparation for the record-breaking one night, 100 UK millionaires one-off draw today.

The EuroMillions UK Millionaire Raffle draw will take place tonight on the night of the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games and guarantees to make 100 UK millionaires in one night, looking to smash the record for the most millionaires created in a single draw.

Bringing the millionaire experience to New Bond Street in Weymouth, shoppers had the chance to star in their own winner photocall, complete with photographer and dummy giant cheque, sit on a throne and marvel at what £1million worth of notes would look like, learn how to spray Champagne like a pro and meet real life National Lottery millionaires Edd and Michelle Edwards.

Edd and Michelle, from Sherborne, who moor their yacht at Weymouth, won £1,925,567 playing the Lotto online in August 2008 remember when they first joined the millionaire ranks and were happy to pass on a few tips about how would-be millionaires could celebrate on the night.
