WHAT better excuse to visit five Pubs than fundraising for good causes?
The annual Five Pubs Challenge is on August 19 and for the seventh year running the village hall committees of Askerswell, Loders and Powerstock are linking with their pubs and getting walkers, cyclists and horse riders to visit each pub between 11am and 5pm on that Sunday.
The money goes to each village hall committee for distribution to local charities of their choice.
Adults taking part pay £5 and under 15s £2 at the first pub they visit. In return they get a map they have to have stamped at each pub and on their return they get a certificate.
Last year 130 people took part and raised nearly £600 and this year organisers hope for even more.
The pubs taking part are the Spyway in Askerswell, the Crown in Uploders, The Loders arms in Loders, The Three Horseshoes in Powerstock and the Marquis of Lorne in Nettlecombe.
