IT'S ‘GLOVES off’ for Team GB’s 470 dinghy contenders today as both the women’s and men’s teams go into their medal races with a shot at gold.

First up will be Portland ’s rising stars Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell , who will go head to head with their Australian rivals – the only team that stand in their way.

The cheeky duo, currently in silver medal position, will compete in the double-points duel with reigning 470 Men’s World Champions Mathew Belcher and Malcolm Page and the rest of the top 10 boats at noon on the Nothe course.

Their final showdown was postponed yesterday due to a lack of wind.

Weymouth’s World Champions Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark , who are also currently in silver medal position and guaranteed a spot on either the top or second step of the podium, have their medal race on the same course from 1pm.

Mills and Clark, who only joined forces 18 months ago, are on equal points with their New Zealand rivals Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie, who currently hold the gold medal spot.

The stage is set for two fierce fights for victory but both borough teams are proud of their achievements so far on home waters.
