THE JOYS of youth clubs will be on show at a celebration event for an exhibition at Dorchester County Museum.
Young volunteers will celebrate the mounting of the ‘Hiking to Hot pants, Tents to Twister’ exhibition, which is on show at the Dorchester museum until October 20.
The display explores the history of youth clubs in the Dorset Youth Association network over the last seven decades and has taken a core group of 12 young volunteers over 1,400 hours to put together.
The volunteers will be joined by youth club members, veteran leaders, trustees and other special guests at the celebration event at the museum on Friday, September 7, from 6.30pm.
Issy Eastwood, one of the youngsters involved, said: “It is a way to say thank you to those who have taken part and for the community to see how youth clubs can and have benefitted everyone.”
The event will include guided tours, speeches from representatives of the Heritage Lottery Fund, music through the ages and some games.
Catering will be provided by Smart Cookies, a group of young volunteers with a range of special needs.
