RESIDENTS of Dorchester are invited to step aboard a campaign bus as it visits the town as part of a national tour.

Charities Christian Aid and Church Action on Poverty have organised the Tax Justice Bus, which is touring the UK and Ireland.

The Bishop of Sherborne will be on hand to welcome the red double-decker as it visits Dorchester Baptist Church in Bridport Road from 8.45am and 10.45am on Friday.

People are invited to climb aboard to find out about the charities’ suggestions.

Niall Cooper, from Church Action on Poverty, said: “At a time when spending cuts are having a devastating impact on the UK’s poorest people and communities, tax dodging is morally unacceptable.”

Christian Aid’s Paul Brannen added: “It’s money that could be used to make huge improvements to public services such as healthcare and education, better enabling people to sustain themselves.

“By making changes to the tax system, people across the world can live happier, healthier and less hungry lives.”
