THE Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance airlifted a man to hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The helicopter landed near to a Weymouth playing field just before lunchtime on Saturday.

Eyewitnesses saw the helicopter land close to the Louviers Road playing field in Littlemoor and a 48-year-old man was transferred to the waiting helicopter on a stretcher.

Paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.

An eyewitness said: “I was walking the dog at about 12.55pm and I saw the helicopter go over and I was quite surprised.

“There were quite a lot of people watching.”

A spokesman for the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance said the man was taken to hospital.
